Narrating the trials and tribulations of the rise of South African super group The Parlotones “Sold Out!” is a retelling of what it took for the band to get where they are from a management perspective. Often funny and entertaining and sometimes brutally honest Raphael takes the reader on a journey filled with up and downs complete with insights into the planning and strategic thinking involved in taking a start-up band from zero to hero. The multi-platinum selling Johannesburg-bred quartet have headlined the 20,000-seater Coca Cola Dome in their hometown in 2009, performed at the World Cup Kick-off Concert to an audience of a billion in 2010, and were handpicked by Coldplay to open the British band’s stadium shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 2011. The Parlotones staged an original rock theatre production, Dragonflies and Astronauts, which was broadcast live around the world in 3D via DIRECTV and in 2D on Facebook. Over the years, they have raised funds and awareness for a variety of social and environmental organizations, lending their high profile to initiatives such as Live Earth, Earth Hour, The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s Carbon Free campaign, Nelson Mandela’s 46664, and Live Earth’s Run for Water, among others.

Raphael Domalik is a well-known and eminent South African music industry player. Having nurtured a multitude of South African artists, most notably The Parlotones – South Africa’s most successful musical export.
Whilst working at a recruitment company in his early 20’s Raphael saw a gap in the South African internet market and spent weekends and most nights working at developing an online recruitment portal. Pnet was born and through technological innovation, keen business strategy, and aggressive competitive tactics Raphael quickly captured leading market share in online recruitment in South Africa.
In 1998 Raphael turned his attention to a lifelong passion, music. With his internet background he developed what was widely regarded as South Africa’s largest music portal, Powerzone. Within 18 months Raphael had branched out and established Sovereign Entertainment, a company that embraces the 360 model of business, offering artists a total career management solution which included promotion, publishing, recording, booking and management. Sovereign Entertainment operates in South Africa, UK, Europe and the USA.
Raphael made South African music history in 2009 when he orchestrated the largest arena show with a South African band headlining. The Parlotones played to a capacity audience at The Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg, cementing their own reputation on home turf and highlighting Raphael’s singular strategizing and marketing ability. Raphael was the executive producer of the world’s first live multi platform 3D global broadcast of a music concert. The performance aired in the US live on Direct TV on the 16 July as well as Facebook and Cinemas.
